While you type in the "Patch file name", IDEA continuously tries to open the file represented by the text typed so far. When you have typed a folder path IDEA shows "getInputStream must not be called against a directory. I think this should avoided and be replaced with a better message, for lack of a better suggestion the standard "Cannot find patch file".
