Please see attached images for an example, notice the difference in memory usage for exactly the same project in 7.0.3 and 8.0M1. More than 5x the memory usage. In version 7.0.3 I run with "idea.exe.vmoptions" -Xmx256m but in version 8.0M1 I was forced to up this to -Xmx1024m in order to load my project without IDEA complaining about not enough memory.

Bob,

Indeed we have some problems with initial caches building memory consumption, but subsequent startups should show much better conditions.

Hi Maxim,

Unfortunately those screens aren't from the initial start up, they are from around my 10th project load. When I loaded the project the first time and it had to build the initial caches my memory usage was over 956Mb (9x more than on 7.0.3/7.0.4).
